Chief Operating Officer, Dumont Nickel
François Vézina, Eng., P.Eng., MBA, is a mining executive and engineer with more than 25 years of experience across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Finland. He has developed extensive expertise in the planning, development, construction, and operation of both open-pit and underground mines.
Recognized for his strategic leadership and ability to mobilize multidisciplinary teams, he brings strong expertise in economic and technical studies, mine design, project management, operational optimization, and mine start-ups. His experience also includes regulatory permitting, environmental management, and relations with governments, communities, and Indigenous Nations.
Currently Chief Operating Officer of the integrated Dumont Nickel Project, Mr. Vézina has contributed to the advancement of major mining projects, including Canadian Malartic, Pinos Altos, Kittilä, Cariboo Gold, and Horne 5. He has served as a Director of Groupe MISA since 2017 and as Chair of the Board of Directors since 2021. Mr. Vézina also serves on the boards of several mining companies.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering and an MBA and is a licensed professional engineer in Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia.
