Corporate metallurgy director at Agnico Eagle Mines
Graduated from University of Laval with a bachelor’s degree in mining and mineral engineering in 1994, Mr. Lafontaine has a 25 year-career in the mining industry. He accumulated over 12 years of experience in operating different factories of mineral treatment(Louvicourt mine and at the factories Kiena, Sigma and Campbell). During this period, he occupied multiple positions, from production metallurgist to the plant superintendent.
He also worked for six years for engineering firms, at SNC Lavalin and Genivar (WSP). He participated in the optimization and factory conception, mostly in Abitibi and in West Africa. A few years ago, Marc joined the metallurgic technical services team at Agnico Eagle.
The work experience that he had throughout his career allowed him to develop great expertises in operation, conception, scheduling and project management, consulting as well as a technical team supervisor.
